Mary Mandarino

I've been weaving for the past 35 years and have enjoyed both the solo nature of the craft and the warm community of weavers.  As an active member of the Weavers Guild of Boston, I'm constantly inspired by the creativity of so many of its members.  From my first introduction to weaving, I knew that weaving would play a very important part of my life. The act of weaving and the resulting cloth humble me.

Color, in combination with weave structure, is one of the main themes running through all of my designs.   Through the process of warp painting, I am able to indulge my need for color and the desire to produce one-of-a-
kind woven pieces.

Enjoy!

This table runner was a commission designed to go into a dining room with walls painted a warm orange color.  The birds that made up the color palette were on a favorite vase and is prominently displayed in the room.

The above photo of a painted masterpiece from the de Young Museum In San Francisco was the inspiration for this hand dyed mobius poncho.

This Munch painting from the Munch Oslo Museum inspired this  Rag rug - woven using an old tablecloth and an old madras skirt from Talbots!
